| VANESSA VOSKUIL is a choreographer, director, performer and creator of performances, dances, films, and music theater. Since graduating from the University of Minnesota with degrees in dance and theater, she has created more than twenty original works presented by theaters and universities throughout the Twin-Cities area. Her work creates impressionistic textures of human experience that responds to the cultural environment and humanities emotional spectrum, by posing open questions about individual and global moral responsibility, through an assemblage of visual, dreamlike non-sequiturs. Voskuil is a recipient of a 2009 McKnight Fellowship for Choreography and has received two Sage Awards for Outstanding Design for her productions, "THE WHITE SOLOS" (2006) and "en masse" (2009). en masse was additionally Sage Award Nominated for Outstanding Performance. She has been supported by the Moore Family Fund for the Arts of the Minneapolis Foundation and commissioned by The Walker Art Center, The Southern Theater and Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater. She has been recognized by the Star Tribune as an, "Artist on the Verge" (2007) among a list of artists to watch. Vanessa, from 2003-09, served as co-founding artistic director of physical theater performance group Live Action Set, with colleagues Megan Odell, Galen Treuer and Noah Bremer. The company, dedicated to the ensemble creation of original work through artistic collaboration, received recognitions including Best Stage Production and Artists of the Year by City Pages (2005) and Outstanding Experimental Theatre by the Star Tribune (2005). www.liveactionset.org.
